About
Dr. Afshin Zand was born in Tehran, Iran, in September 1990; he completed his elementary and secondary education in Tehran, Iran; later, he achieved his master’s degree in pharmacy with honors from the University of Pécs, Faculty of Pharmacy in 2016. During his undergraduate years, he actively conducted research in addition to his studies and was a member of the Undergraduate Research Society in the chemical and pharmacological fields.
In 2018, Dr. Zand was granted a prestigious Hungarian PhD scholarship from the Faculty of
Health Science Doctoral School, commencing his research journey at the Medical School, Department of Public Health Medicine. Concurrently, He lectured on Pharmacology at the Faculty of Health Sciences for undergraduate and graduate students specializing in nursing and
midwifery. Designing courses and syllabi that cover various aspects of pharmacology, including
pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, drug interactions, and toxicology; delivering lectures to students, either in person or through online platforms; facilitating discussions, group activities, or seminars; creating and grading assignments, quizzes, exams, and other assessments to evaluate students as well as delivering numbers of lectures and fulfilling the role of a co-examiner in the Department of Public Health Medicine at the Medical School.
Transitioning to the role of Assistant Professor in the Department of Public Health Medicine in 2022, Dr. Zand continued his academic pursuits, Developing and delivering engaging lectures and seminars on Public Health, epigenetics, healthy diet and lifestyle, and food additives. He also Co-upervised master’s student theses and provided mentorship and guidance throughout the research process.
During his doctoral studies, Dr. Zand showcased his research findings at numerous national conferences, namely the Hungarian Society of Nutrition and the Association of Hungarian Hygienists. Dr. Zand Afshin has published 11 articles during his research activities, five of which were in prestigious Q1 / D1 journals, such as MDPI Nutrients and Toxins. The cumulative impact factor of these articles is 60.72, with 107 independent citations, and his Hirsch index is 6.
